Are you considering proposing to your girlfriend, but don’t
know if you can afford an engagement ring, let alone that romantic trip to
Paris? While getting down on one knee in front of the Eiffel Tower may be
viewed by many as the ultimate gesture of love, it is sadly out of reach for the
majority of us. Don’t worry—there are plenty of options out there to propose to
your girlfriend that are creative, unique, affordable, and of course,
memorable.
The Beach
One of the best ways to propose on a budget is by going to
the beach. Do a little reconnaissance first; if you see big groups of spring
breakers, then it may not be the spot for you. If you are planning something
elaborate, then draft in some help where possible.
A recommended time to go would be at night, when it is more romantic and
intimate. You could start off by setting the mood; adding a table and chairs
with a gorgeous array of flowers is a good start. Be mindful of tide times, as I’m sure that
you’d want to avoid watching your proposal plans drift out to sea.
Set the table and chairs around a series of large candles
that form a heart. Serve her your finest homemade food, and eventually tell her
that you need to ask her something. Tell her to turn around while you write
“Will you marry me?” in the sand. When
she turns around, make sure to show her the gorgeous ring you selected. She’ll
be speechless.
A Treasure Hunt
This is one of the most mysterious (and fun) ways to propose. By setting up various locations in your
apartment, house, or even your neighborhood, your girlfriend will enjoy
searching for the next clues, all the while wondering the purpose of the
activity. We don't recommend sending
her into dark allies or known criminal hangouts. Be sure to keep her interested by providing
little surprises that she’ll appreciate; then, when she gets to the final
treasure (her engagement ring), you’ll see her look of ecstatic shock.
Breakfast in Bed
If you and your girlfriend share a bed together, this idea
will require a bit of sneakiness. While she is snoring soundly, creep into the
kitchen and prepare a delicious breakfast (I’m afraid this is not the day for
pop tarts and sunny delight). Add the engagement
ring to the breakfast tray along with some pretty flowers. Serve her breakfast in bed before she wakes
up; when she goes to reach for her food, she will notice the ring, which is
when you can ask, “Will you marry me?”
These are only three creative and affordable proposal ideas.
Of course, before coming up with a creative way to propose, it helps to
consider what she’s interested in (obviously, you wouldn’t want to take her to
the beach if she hates the sand). Pre-owned engagement rings will help in your
perfect, budget-friendly proposal.
Believe it or not, a pre-owned
engagement ring is a great way to make your girlfriend smile without having
to break the bank. Afterwards, selecting a spot to propose to her will be a
cinch.
