Three Creative and Delicious Wedding Cake Ideas

When it comes to getting married, aesthetics mean everything. There is a lot of attention dedicated to finding the perfect wedding venue, designing the event, determining the menu and finding inventive ways to avoid inviting those crazy family members.

One important wedding factor is the cake. Although a cake should always be tasty, a cake that fits your theme can turn an ordinary wedding into an exceptional event.   Some cakes, such as white cakes, work well for almost any wedding—but in case you’re searching for something suiting, here is a guide for finding some creative and delicious wedding cake ideas.

A Beach-Themed Wedding Cake

In case your wedding will be held on the beach, make sure to be appropriate by having not only beach-themed décor, but a beach-themed cake as well. This doesn’t mean that the cake should taste of sand, rather that you can accomplish this by using aqua or blue icing and seashell designs on your cake in corals and peaches.  Additionally, you can add hints of white swirls on your beach-themed wedding cake.
A Formal-Themed Wedding Cake

If you are holding a wedding with a more formal theme, then an elegant black and white cake is the perfect choice for you. With intricate black floral designs and black bows, this cake option is absolutely perfect. Your guests will notice a sense of class simply by eyeing your sweet and sophisticated cake.

A Fall-Themed Wedding Cake

Are you and your fiancée getting married during the fall? What a beautiful time of the year to get married. Fall has gorgeous colors to incorporate into your cake, such as rich reds, gold, orange, greens, and browns. By adding a bit of these colors to your cake, you’ll set the theme effortlessly. This can be achieved by adding artificial floral stems around specific areas of the cake or by selecting appropriate icing colors. Another idea is using leaf decorations made out of icing for your fall wedding cake.

On your wedding day, make sure it’s a celebration that you, your fiancée, friends, and family will all enjoy. By saving money on pre-owned engagement rings, you will have more funds to use for the big day.

Used engagement rings are a great idea to help save money through the wedding planning process.

Used engagement rings are just as attractive as their unused counterparts—the only difference is their more affordable price.  If your fiancée chooses a used engagement ring, you’ll have more money to spend on the big celebration.

Three Budget-Friendly Ways to Propose to Your Girlfriend

Are you considering proposing to your girlfriend, but don’t know if you can afford an engagement ring, let alone that romantic trip to Paris? While getting down on one knee in front of the Eiffel Tower may be viewed by many as the ultimate gesture of love, it is sadly out of reach for the majority of us. Don’t worry—there are plenty of options out there to propose to your girlfriend that are creative, unique, affordable, and of course, memorable.

The Beach

One of the best ways to propose on a budget is by going to the beach. Do a little reconnaissance first; if you see big groups of spring breakers, then it may not be the spot for you. If you are planning something elaborate, then draft in some help where possible.

A recommended time to go would be at night, when it is more romantic and intimate. You could start off by setting the mood; adding a table and chairs with a gorgeous array of flowers is a good start.  Be mindful of tide times, as I’m sure that you’d want to avoid watching your proposal plans drift out to sea.
Set the table and chairs around a series of large candles that form a heart. Serve her your finest homemade food, and eventually tell her that you need to ask her something. Tell her to turn around while you write “Will you marry me?” in the sand.  When she turns around, make sure to show her the gorgeous ring you selected. She’ll be speechless.

A Treasure Hunt

This is one of the most mysterious (and fun) ways to propose.  By setting up various locations in your apartment, house, or even your neighborhood, your girlfriend will enjoy searching for the next clues, all the while wondering the purpose of the activity.   We don't recommend sending her into dark allies or known criminal hangouts.  Be sure to keep her interested by providing little surprises that she’ll appreciate; then, when she gets to the final treasure (her engagement ring), you’ll see her look of ecstatic shock.

Breakfast in Bed

If you and your girlfriend share a bed together, this idea will require a bit of sneakiness. While she is snoring soundly, creep into the kitchen and prepare a delicious breakfast (I’m afraid this is not the day for pop tarts and sunny delight).  Add the engagement ring to the breakfast tray along with some pretty flowers.  Serve her breakfast in bed before she wakes up; when she goes to reach for her food, she will notice the ring, which is when you can ask, “Will you marry me?”

These are only three creative and affordable proposal ideas. Of course, before coming up with a creative way to propose, it helps to consider what she’s interested in (obviously, you wouldn’t want to take her to the beach if she hates the sand). Pre-owned engagement rings will help in your perfect, budget-friendly proposal.

Believe it or not, a pre-owned engagement ring is a great way to make your girlfriend smile without having to break the bank. Afterwards, selecting a spot to propose to her will be a cinch.

Help Ash: July 20th - A Day of Remembrance

July 20th will live long in the memory as one of the darkest days in US history. The Aurora, CO community, along with the rest of the United States will remember the twelve unfortunate victims who lost their lives on this fateful day.
Lives were changed forever not just for the 70 injured people, but for the countless family members and witnesses, July 20th marks an important milestone in their journey to move forward.
Ashley and Veronica Moser
Remembering and Creating New Memories
Many of those who were present in the Century movie theater at that time have made significant process in healing, mending, and rebuilding their lives. Take, for example, Eugene Han and Kirstin Davis, a young couple who survived the incident and have scheduled their wedding date on the anniversary in order to build better memories to be associated with that date. There are also a number of therapeutic events to be hosted by the community on the dates surrounding the anniversary. For victim Ashley Moser, who withstood several gunshot wounds, it’s all about taking it one day at a time.
Where are they Now?: Ashley’s Adventures
Despite being paralyzed after the incident, Moser is letting nothing hold her back. She’s excited to announce that she’s re-enrolled in college courses for the upcoming fall semester, which she’ll be attending on-campus. Until then, she’s been keeping busy doing many of the things she loves to do: for example, she recently participated in the Paralympics, competing in three different throwing events. Thanks to Adaptive Adventures and her love of the outdoors, she also recently went on kayaking and hand-cycling excursions. She’s attending a summit adventure next month, will attend a women’s conference at the end of the summer, and will be the special guest at Tony Robbins in Palm Springs come December – there is much to look forward to!
Family Ties Stay Strong
Putting yourself back in the game the way Ashley has – continuing with her dreams of going to school and trying new things – takes a lot of resiliency, and she thinks hers can be attributed to her strong family bonds. Just this weekend she attended a family reunion where there were over a hundred attendees and lots of fun to be had, so it’s easy to see where her support system comes from. Though the one year anniversary of the day that changed her life still brings about strong memories, her family gives her the strength and the foundation she needs to create new positive ones.
